A new version of the How to Rent Guide was released on 2 October 2023 and can be seen here.
The guide is for tenants and landlords in the private rented sector to help them understand their rights and responsibilities and this latest version needs to be given to the tenant on all new and replacement tenancies (including statutory periodic tenancies).
A copy of this guide must be 'given' as a hard copy to the tenant, unless the tenant has expressly agreed to being sent a PDF copy by email.
No section 21 notice requiring possession may be given to the tenant until the landlord has given the How to Rent Guide, which is prescribed information for the tenant under s21B Housing Act 1988.
